How to reduce flicker and identity drift

Flicker is a visible change that should have remained stable from frame to frame. Identity drift is a broader loss of defining subject features over time. They often appear together, but they do not always share a cause. Texture may shimmer while the face remains recognizable; a face may change while the background is stable. Effective correction begins by naming the unstable feature precisely.
The safest workflow reduces uncertainty before asking for more motion. Start with a clean source, define fixed identity anchors, request one controlled action, and review short clips at normal speed and frame by frame. Decision criteria
Evaluate stability across identity, geometry, texture, lighting, and background. Identity includes face shape, hair silhouette, clothing structure, distinctive marks, and product proportions. Failure modes

Long clips can accumulate error, so test a shorter segment before assuming that more prompt detail will stabilize the entire duration.
Fine repeating textures, jewelry, fingers, text, and high-contrast edges can flicker even when the main subject remains coherent. Simplify or remove nonessential unstable detail in the source. Another failure is treating every instability with a long negative prompt. Negative terms may compete without indicating the desired fixed state. Name the anchor positively, lower the transformation demand, and compare one revision against the same source rather than changing source and instruction together.
Limitations
No prompt can fully specify unseen geometry or guarantee frame-level identity. The model, current route, source complexity, duration, resolution, and requested motion all influence the result. A method that stabilizes a restrained portrait may not transfer to a full-body turn, crowded scene, reflective product, or occlusion. Frame-by-frame inspection can also overstate defects that are not visible at playback speed, while normal playback can hide a one-frame error that becomes obvious after editing.
